On Friday the first of August Allen and Suz took us up to the high country for a portion of the Colorado Trail that goes from Denver to Durango. We did a15 mile out-and-back that started from somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 feet and went up from there. I know we gained 600 feet elevation in the first couple miles, but the total elevation gain is unknown to me. I just know we did a whole lot of uphill. But there were a lot of rollies too. Tomas and Franc would have loved this one. I think it is my favorite mountain bike ride EVER!!

Cool gold bike.

Suz and Allen at the turn-around. They don't look tired.

Looks like I'm checking the time, but no watches on this vacation!

Suz busting up a hard hill!

more pretty flowers and single track!

The lakes. Guess there was one spot of double track. Good place to pass.

Suz & Allen cranking up the hill (one of many, many, many!)

Creek crossing.

Oh, we are having fun yet! Now that all the uphill is over :)

The trail...oh so snakelike..

Single track with edges

perdy scenery!

who is that hot biker dude?

big, leafy vegetation. wow.

big mountains

The Arkansans! A tough bunch!
Later, one of Suzanne's friends told us that it is rare that one gets to ride this trail as it has a history of being blocked with snow for the summer. Can't believe how lucky we got after the hurricane.
After a nap Rich and I had a date night.

We didn't take these other two characters with us (Jake and Champ).
